Does anyone have experience with the USC Health Insurance Plan? We are debating getting it for our son and taking him off our family plan with BCBS. Thanks!

No experience here but it looks to be an excellent plan and very affordable compared to what I would have to pay through my employer.

NC Mom: Does having your son on your family plan cost extra. If not, and your family plan on BCBS meets USC requirements, then I would stick with your plan. We have BCBS also but we are in Illinois. Our insurance is employee + family. It doesn’t matter if “family” is one (spouse), two (spouse + son), etc., the cost to us is the same for employee + spouse as it is for employee + spouse + son. Also, BCBS is also in California so that actually helps.

Thanks msheft. Yes it does cost more to have him on. We are self employed so I guess we pay for each individual. It us cheaper to go with the USC plan but in the long run, will it cost us more? That is why I am wondering if anyone has used it and what they had to pay.

We opted for USC insurance last year, and the cost was about $1040 for both semesters. $426 for fall semester, and $614 for spring semester (I’m not sure why the amounts are different for both semesters :/). I was a freshman last year, so I also don’t know if it varies every year. Hope these figures help you compare!
