USC - Thinking about dropping a class - From 14 units to 10 units.

Hi everyone,

I have been really stressful this semester. I own a business and I have to commute everyday (which takes 1-2 hours to go) (class starts at 8) for a class that I’m always late, I’ve missed papers that is only accepted at the beginning of class and I’m really behind. + I have to take care of my family, picking up, dropping off people at insane times (8PM, 12AM, etc.). I’ve been getting insanely depressed lately as well which is making it really hard for me (family issues and others). I love school but dropping this 4 unit class will take a huge load off my stress. But it will put me to 10 units which I don’t know if there will be a huge repercussion. I get FAFSA ($2.5k a semester, and mostly gift aids)

Should I drop it?

Commute to USC every day, wow that’s a tall order. Yes I would drop it and take it easy the first semester. You sound depressed, perhaps too much stress. I make this commute every day so I know it’s bad. Can you car pool with somebody?

No luck finding carpool either :frowning: my depression and stress is insane…
Before I do it though, I should talk to the admission office and financial aid office right?

Yes do that to see if it affects your financial aid. I don’t know if you need to talk to the admission officer. Another suggestion if you have to take minimum 12 units is to take one class P/F, reduce stress, you just need a C to pass.

I’ve tried changing the class to P/F but it never went through, and its pass deadline; I have the option to appeal and ask for it though; which I might do… But its the stress that is getting to me so badly…
