USC Thornton Receives $3 Million Gift for New Hall

<p>Violinist, Alice Schoenfeld, holder of the Schoenfeld Endowed Chair in Strings at USC Thornton School of Music has committed $3 million to create a new symphonic hall for the school.</p>

<p>USC Thornton Dean Robert Cutietta remarked, "USC Thornton Symphony and Wind Ensemble will have a custom designed space where they can rehearse." The facility will have complete audio and video recording capabilities. It was announced USC may be the only university in the U.S. with orchestral recording capabilty of this quality. The hall will include a custom designed percussion storage area, humidity control systems and suspended flooring for sound isolation.</p>

<p>The hall will be named the Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld Symphonic Hall.</p>
