<p>Two of Thornton's noted composition professors have endowed graduate scholarships in composition.</p>
<p>Morten Lauridsen, USC alumnus, will support graduate students in composition with his gift. Dr. Lauridsen is a National Medal of Arts recipient and received the Phi Kappa Phi Lifetime Achievement Award, among other honors. The composition department was under his leadership for many years.</p>
<p>Frank Ticheli, USC Professor of Composition, has also endowed a graduate scholarship in composition. It will be the Frank Ticheli Endowed Scholarship in Composition. Ticheli has won various awards as well as the Beiler Memorial Prize. </p>
<p>Alumna, Adrienne Westerbeck, taught generations of music students in Pasadena,CA. She earned three degrees from SC and remembered her alma mater after her death at 103. The bequest of $4 million will endow the Adrienne Westerbeck Music Scholarship.</p>
