USC Thornton School of Music Receives Gift for Endowed Chair

<p>Alfred Mann, a generous donor to USC, has given $3 million dollars to endow a chair in the strings department at the Thornton School of Music. Midori is chairman of the department, which has three other endowed chairs named for famous faculty. In this case the chair will be named for Robert Mann, Mr. Mann's brother. </p>

<p>The other endowed strings chairs are named for famous faculty members at Thornton. Holders of the three other chairs are:</p>

<p>Jascha Heifetz Chair-Midori Oto
Gregor Piatigorsky Chair-Ralph Kirshbaum
Eleanor Schoenfeld-Alice Schoenfeld</p>

<p>The name of the new holder of the Robert Mann chair will be announced later in the year.</p>
