Hey everyone, I currently attend the University of Michigan but i’m not enjoying it too much and I really really want to transfer to USC Thornton for fall 2018. Im from Los Angeles and i’m pretty involved in the music scene that surrounds USCs downtown neighborhood so it really would be the perfect fit for me.
I applied with a 3.43 GPA but brought it up to 3.491 this past fall semester with all As. The music industry major that I applied for did not require an audition. I’m really hoping that my band’s self-produced EP will help my chances. I included 3 of the songs in my slide room application. In my essay I talked about how I booked a week long tour entirely on my own for my band last summer. My GPA and the fact that i’m transferring from a 4 year university are what I am most worried about.
Extra curriculars include the following:
Fronting a rock band in high school and in college and writing and performing regularly
Berklee College of Music summer songwriting program
Stanford Pre-collegiate summer program for legal studies
Columbia University summer marketing program
Involvement in Michigan’s student run record label
Involvement in Michigan’s student run monthly concert showcase organization
7 years of working with children with disabilities
Inclusion in various high school and college honors societies
Thanks so much!
