USC top programs/is it THAT hard to get in?

Besides film, is there anything else USC is good for? I'm particularly interested in majoring in either engineering, physical science, social science (ie psychlogy, political science), or business, so would USC be a good choice for any of these? So far I like USC just because I think I would be happy there, not so much for education, and I would really really like some opinions about that. How much reputation does it have...I know I know prestige doesn't matter, but I'm just curious.

Also, is it really that hard to get into? I will probably have at worst a 3.83 UW in IB diploma with a 30 on the ACT with quite a few ECs, and people at my school are saying I'm going to get rejected outright. Is it THAT hard? I know its tough, but yeah

thanks

USC is particularly strong in Business (top 10 for undergrad), Engineering (top 5), Accounting (top 3), and Film (obviously).

Your stats make you a match for USC.

sfgiants, where are you getting those stats?

Although it is hard to get into (25% rate), you have a really nice shot with your stats (harder if you're applying to film). As for prestige, USC is pretty prestigious although not on the HYP level... It is right below those schools in the US

IMO, if you get a a good scholarship, the money difference more than makes up for the prestige, which is why I am going to USC.

Also, would you rather be freezing at Harvard / Yale when you can enjoy the nice California weather ;-)?
