I just got home from a campus tour at USC. I didnt think I would really like it because of its location ( sketchy neighborhood), and I was more excited to see pepperdine.......

but,,,,,,
I fell in love with the campus. IT was a amazing... the people were great....the grounds were great....everything was great

I loved it

USC has just skyrocketed on my list

oh and that bookstore is amaaaazing

I have many new USC shirts now... ha

And I ended up canceling the Pepperdine tour so that I could stay at USC all day...

and this is coming from a life long ND fan,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

haah I went to the LMU tour the next day... I showd up on campus....looked around for a bit before the tour... and then left ......didnt think it warranted another 2 hours....did by a nice shirt tho

how did you find the security in campus chillin til 08 ?... my parents are skeptical about that school because of its location, they think it's unsafe, meh

there are SO MANY posts on campus security. they made it very clear both times i visited that the campus is very safe, the neighborhood might be a little sketchy but it's not like there aren't security guards patrolling 24 hours a day (because there are).

look back at other threads where they talk about safety, because there are a lot and this question keeps being asked.

well... its true that around the campus is pretty shady

my mom was using an atm across mcklintock and she was scarred out of her mind

but once we stepped inside, it was like a different world!
I saw many security people inside, and i did not feel worried or apprehensive at all

The campus is gated all of the way around except on 36th, right? could be wrong ... where this is an opening

I think anyone can be unsafe anywhere with stupid mistakes and stupid decisions, but once inside the gates I felt extremely safe

I think the campus is pretty self sufficient too, especially with the 9 starbucks, so my least concern is the safety issue

however i had one of my good friends on the tour, and absolutely hated the campus.... mainly because of the surrounding area........he said that it was just to grungy and not nice enough

my jaw dropped at his statement... and I told him that he should go look at pepperdine while i stay the rest of the day at usc

so rijesoXeper, did it feel unsafe? absolutely not Is the surrounding area a bit shady? sure, but if you make smart decisions and are rational with your behavior I dont think there will be a problem

It's not a visit if you don't. I took a pic of my "D" in front of Tommy Trojan when she visited last year. I have that pic up in my office.

Like the other posters, something just came over my D when she stepped on campus. Fell in love with it within 2 seconds. Had the big puppy dog eyes looking at me telling me she just had to go there. It was pretty cute.
