I applied for the Dec. 1st deadline yet I thought that I only had to submit the immediate application for the time being. My two teachers recommendations were sent on time, yet I don't think my counselor has send my official transcript or her letter of recommendation yet. Will my application still be considered, or is it now void? Could I still be considered for the Jan. 10 deadline?

Thanks in advance, I would really appreciate some feedback.

USC only requires 1 letter of recommendation, so that is not an issue. FAX an unofficial transcript to admissions as soon as possible, and have your registrar send an official transcript when winter break is over.

It is possible that your materials are too late for scholarship consideration, but as long as you have everything in by the 10th, you will automatically be considered for the regular deadline.

Good luck!

How do I fax it to them? Do I just put my ID on it and send that one form?

Yes, put your USC ID # on it and FAX it. The form is optional.

Okay, thank you SO much for your very helpful response. Just one more inquiry: is USC generous with its scholarship offers? As in, do many applicants receive scholarships or is it something I probably would not have received anyway? I’m just trying to console myself in that I probably won’t be considered for a merit scholarship.

USC will receive approximately 35,000 applications for admission this year, and approximately 20,000 of them have been submitted for scholarship consideration. Of those 20,000, about 800 will be invited for interviews for the Trustee (full-tuition) and Presidential (1/2 tuition) scholarships, so that is about 4% of those who meet the scholarship deadline.

In general scholarship candidates are in the very top % of applicants with uwGPAs over 3.8 and SATs of 2200+ and /or ACTs of 34+, but some scholarship candidates are chosen for other qualities such as special accomplishments, talents, portfolios or auditions, or for overcoming challenges.

In addition to the two top scholarships, USC also offers many smaller scholarships. In all, about 24% of the 2010 entering class was awarded a merit scholarship, so if your stats put you above the middle 50% of accepted students you might have been in contention for a merit award http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1011/FreshmanProfile2010.pdf .

USC also offers need-based aid, and you are still eligible for that with the January 10 application deadline. The FAFSA and CSS/Profile are due by February 2nd - be sure to meet that deadline.

Thanks again. I probably would not have been awarded a scholarship anyway. At least I’ll still be considered for regular decision.
