USC Transfer 2017

Hey guys,

I’m new to the site and I’m hoping someone can help me out.

So right now I just finished my first year at a community college in Maryland. I major in film studies and currently have a 3.67 GPA (Although I have 2 summer class finals tomorrow so it could slightly change). I will have 33 credits by the end of this summer, and plan to graduate with at least 60 credits next Spring (2017). What are the odds I can get into USC for Fall 2017? I guess more so my question is if it is even possible for me to transfer out of state to USC. I might have misinterpreted, but a lot of other schools seem to only accept or at least highly prioritize in state community college students, making me wonder if this transfer is even possible. Also, how does having an A.A. degree in the spring affect my ability to transfer v.s. just transferring with 60 credits. Does it matter?

I hope this makes sense and thank you for your time and help.

You can transfer from anywhere, USC is a private school and doesn’t give priority to instate students. 4 year, 2 year, anywhere in US or international, although they do have some schools they seem to accept more transfers from. There are many transfers threads to start getting data from and likely to get responses from experienced transfer students. Here is one:

Good Luck!

You’ll get in because USC is a transferee school. So long as you have the money you’re in!

^ That’s untrue. USC’s transfer acceptance rate is less than 30%, and they are need-blind admissions.

They are not a public school, so they don’t prioritize California community colleges, although many of their transfers seem to come from there.

According to the Spring 2016 issue of the USC Trojan magazine for alumni and friends of USC, a third of the entering transfers are first generation of their family to attend college and 20 to 25% of the USC undergraduates are transfer students. Also, the average college GPA for new transfers is 3.7, which means they have to be fairly smart to get in.
