Accepted - CLAS/BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Stats:[ul]
[] College transferring from: Montclair State University - NEW JERSEY!
[] Entering as: It says sophomore, but I’m a junior. I think I have 62 instead of 64 credits or something
[] GPA: Applied with a 3.63 GPA, but it went down after my stupid chem teacher this semester! bahhh! D:
[] Units completed: 62 including Spring
[] Pre-reqs completed: Hm, I think all of them except the language. But I speak 2 languages, so I’ll take the language exam at USC.
[] GEs completed: Everything, just need to take the mandatory ones.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] ECs listed on app: I played 2 years of Intramural volleyball, soccer and football. Won championships every year in every sport haha hope to continue that at USC. I volunteer tutor, which is now 2000+ hours. I also volunteer at the hospital hospice.
[] Job/Work Experience: Manager at the Student Recreation Center at my current institution. Also Manager at a Gas Station. Balancing two jobs trying to pay for tuition is tough.
[] Essays (subject and responses): The passion one. I spent nearly 2 months perfecting that essay, and I think that was a huge factor as to why I might of gotten in. It was so creative imo.
[] Letters of Recommendation: 2, one from my doctor I intern for and one from my biology professor. Both were excellent.
[/ul]Other:[ul]
[] Other schools applied to: I applied to University of Texas at Austin and Rutgers and got accepted to both. But the only one that mattered for me was USC!
[] Comments: I think that the GPA is not nearly as factored in as people think. I have a 3.6 which is average compared to others, but I have 2 internships with doctors who are known worldwide. I also juggle two jobs, and continue to volunteer the way I do which takes up a lot of time. That plus being a molecular biology major is near impossible but I try and do the best I can to the best of my abilities. I was an exceptional student in high school but I was really screwed over by my administration when it came to recognition and respect. I vowed to myself I would get into USC (my 1st choice) while everyone else got into their number 1’s. Facing financial troubles, I didn’t even bother applying to USC, but now I am and finally got in. Dreams come true, just keep fighting. That’s what lifes all about. Trust me, when you look back on your accomplishments, you’ll be proud of the leap you took and the way it sculpts your life.

To those accepted, congratulations. I will bring the Jack and Pizza. To those rejected, we may not be bound by a mutual university, but we are bound by our values and beliefs. Appeal or Apply again, I’m sure you will get in. To all those moms and dads out there supporting us new Trojans, bless your hearts. I couldn’t have done it without your support and wisdom. I’m appreciative to everyone who has helped me on this journey. California, here I come. Fight On!
