Anyways I’m honored to even get a spring grade request, even if I get rejected because I will apply AGAIN next year with a higher GPA.

Accepted - DORNSIFE/INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Stats:

College transferring from: Saint Louis University
Entering as: Sophomore
GPA: 3.94
Units completed: 18
Units in progress: 18
Pre-reqs completed: I’m not sure…
GEs completed: I’m not sure about these either.

Subjective:

ECs listed on app: Internship - SLU’s English Language Center, International Ambassadors, International Partnership

Job/Work Experience:

2011-Present Office Assistant - Admissions Office, SLU School of Law (10-15 hrs/wk)
2009-2011 Assistant - Kumon Learning Center (3-6 hrs/wk)

Essays (subject and responses): I think I did a pretty good job explaining the reasons for wanting to transfer in my Common App essay; I emphasized the positive aspects of my current school while explaining why SLU wasn’t the best fit for me. For my “Why USC” essay, I got a lot of advice from one of my friends who currently goes to USC. I mentioned some of the opportunities available to me in the field of international relations (such as classes, extracurricular activities, etc.).

Letters of Recommendation: One from my Spanish professor last semester. We got along well, Spanish is one of my majors, and I got an A in the course, so I figured - why not! I think he wrote a pretty good letter.

Other:

Other schools applied to: UVA (Accepted - April 27), Georgetown (Accepted - May 1), and Middlebury (Decisions released on Friday)

Comments: I’m honestly a little surprised that I got in. I really didn’t pay much attention at all to the pre-reqs or GEs when choosing my courses at my current school, and I was afraid this would hurt me, but I guess as a sophomore transfer they figure I have enough time to complete them. I also took a lot of AP tests in high school, so perhaps that helped! Anyway, I’m really happy I was accepted. Now it’s just waiting for the financial aid package. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!

[] Essays (subject and responses):CommonApp: I made sure to not read anyone elses personal statements before finishing my own, that way I wouldn’t compare myself. When it came to writing it I did not concern myself with the word limit until after I put all my thoughts on paper. When it came to editing I had a handful of people critique my essay over and over again until I was completely satisfied. USC Essay: I did a little research into the department I am majoring in and made sure to put specific details about USC.
Hi all accepted students! Congratulations! If you are looking for housing next year, I may have the place for you. I live in a house of USC students that is a 5 minute bike ride from campus and we have a double that we are trying to fill. The rent is super cheap for SC at $775/month including all utilities, maid that comes once a year, household products like toilet paper and soap and plenty of parking!
