[] ECs listed on app: Alpha Gamma Sigma (Honors Society) Officer, Science Camp Cabin Leader (Went 3 times), ASB Secretary (Senior Year), Key Club Treasurer (Junior+Senior Year), JROTC (Senior Year), Church Volunteer, Kilusan Filipino Club (Junior+Senior Year), Hmong Club (Junior+Senior Year)
[] Job/Work Experience: N/A, however I did talk about my volunteer experience as a Cabin Leader for 5th Graders at Science Camp; I explained how daunting the task seemed but how I was also able to overcome those fears and develop leadership and guidance skills.
[] Essays (subject and responses): I honestly do not know! D: Lol I felt like my essay was average; However, I did mention a few things about migrating from Philippines, to Italy to America, and my family’s hope for better opportunities. I also talked about the diversity of living in the city I currently live and how in the process I was able to learn about different cultures (Ex. Joining Hmong Club at School even though I’m not Hmong :P)
[] Letters of Recommendation: one from my counselor, one from my Calculus teacher, and one from my Architecture teacher who also works at a Large firm here. Can’t say much about the quality of those letters of recommendations since I have nothing to compare them with, but I wouldn’t say they were stellar. Lol
[] Hook: I wanted to add this category but I think a few hooks possibly served to my advantage through admissions. First, I’m a first generation college student. Second, I’ve made a drastic improvement from my High School Grades (2.05 in HS to 3.8 in College). And Possibly third, migrating from Rome Italy and having some fluency in Italian :D
[] Other schools applied to: Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona
[] Comments: ■■■■… I GOT IN. I honestly didn’t see myself writing in this topic with an “accepted” in big green letters right above my post!!! Admissions is so unpredictable and it’s an unforgiving roller coaster!!! With that being said, DON’T EVER LOSE HOPE; EVEN IF IT’S THE LAST DAY THEY SEND OUT DECISIONS, because frankly, you may surprised by a large white envelope stating you’ve been admitted. With the recent switch to Common App, I imagine future decisions are gonna be just as chaotic so just enjoy the ride and keep pushing for an acceptance!!

As far other schools, I didn’t care for SLO (got denied). I hear SLO takes a really technical rather than design-intensive approach to architecture (and I don’t like that lol. I enjoy expressing my creativity). , and I SERIOUSLY thought I was going to attend Pomona (Which I was definitely happy with as well) I’ve heard excellent things about the architecture program there; its not surprise that it’s Pomona’s crown jewel The decision of going to Pomona or USC was definitely a difficult one to make, but at the end, I just couldn’t pass up on the location, beauty, and community of USC!!

Yowza, I wrote a lot lol. Well it’s nice to finally be part of the Trojan Family; FIGHT ON!!
