[] GPA:3.3
[] Units completed: 125, although clearly not all of these transferred. Cal Poly was very liberal with AP credit.

[] GEs completed:Unclear, my transfer credit report has not come in yet.

[] ECs listed on app: Relay for Life Captain, Track and Field Captain, XC Captain, many other cookie-cutter ECs.
[] Job/Work Experience:Part-time waiter, I doubt this helped me much
[] Essays (subject and responses): In retrospect they were extremely bloated and pretentious, although they hit on strong, valid arguments
[] Letters of Recommendation: One from my English professor

[] Other schools applied to: UC Davis, UCLA, UCB, NYU
[ *] Comments: In all honesty I got completely lucky. My GPA is below par, my SATs were average (2070), my ECs were respectable but in no way set me apart from the rest, and my essays were okay. However, I am glad to go to USC pending my financial aid, since I plan to matriculate straight into grad school after my bachelor’s, and Cal Poly offers very little research opportunities or grad support compared to USC. Not to mention I get to live in LA!

Comments: Honestly I cannot believe it. The transfer rate being low, having a disadvantage (Not a California school or resident), and not having a outstanding GPA made me believe that I had slim to no chances of making it into SC. I guess the essay means a lot for transfer applications. Best of luck to all future applicants and re-applying applicants, it’s anybody’s ball game, take advantage of it!

[] Comments: I’ve heard that EC’s for transfers don’t matter too much and I *might be a case of it being true, not sure though. I also got a C in my spring semester after my SGR so don’t lose hope if you get one. I also got an SGR on June 1st and a decision on July 16th so don’t lose hope until you get your letter or a solid signal of acceptance/denial

HS GPA: 3.7

Comments: I was under a Trojan Transfer Plan (TTP) and my counselor told me straight up that my SAT score were the only reason why I didn’t get in as a freshman. I did exacly what the counselor told me to do in the meeting in June 2011 and the hard work paid off. For future reference, TRY and get ALL the GEs, pre-reqs, and optionals classes done. It WILL make you competitive. I got a SGR on June 6th and a decision on July 15th.

[li] Comments: You don’t need a really high gpa (3.9 or something) to get into Marshall! Also don’t drop your classes if possible because it doesn’t look that good when you’re competing against other students. The accounting classes are probably beneficial, but if you haven’t completed them, don’t worryy you still have a chance. You’ll probably have to ace the other classes though. I think USC also LOVES upward trends. I had a 3.45 after freshman year, but after 4 more semesters I brought it up a lot. Also stay full time you’re whole time at whichever school you’re at. Well good luck to everyone applying next year! If you have any questions just PM me All of us are here to help![/li][/ul]---------------------------------------------
