USC Transfer Decisions 2014

**Accepted - PRICE/Planning, Policy, and Development **

Decision Date & Time: May 3, 2014 (Received package May 6, 2014)

Stats:

[ul]
[] College transferring from: CSULA
[] Entering as: Sophomore/Junior
[] GPA: 3.96
[] Units completed: 66 quarter = 45 semester
[] Units in progress: 16 quarter = 10 semester
[] Pre-reqs completed: n/a
[] GEs completed: all
[/ul]Subjective:

[ul]
[] ECs listed on app: High school extra curricular (sports, clubs, choir)
[] Job/Work Experience: Firefighter cadet training
[] Essays (subject and responses): Both were pretty strong, None of that generic “my family is poor” problem essays. First was about my firefighting training and how it taught me to be proud of what i do and who i am. My second essay mainly talk about why i wanted to transfer to USC and their ROTC programs. Talk about what is currently lacking at my school (without sounding like a d-bag) and what i can received from USC.
[] Letters of Recommendation: 1 from my school counselor
[/ul]Other:

[ul]
[] Other schools applied to: UCLA color=red, UCI color=red, UCSD color=red, UCB color=red
[li] Comments: USC was my first choice, but was also the last to hear from. [/li]So after being rejected from every other school i applied for, you can imagine how relieve i felt when i got the acceptance package.

Moral of the story:

Don’t give up, and

Fight on

[*] Comments: I know I’m not the greatest student compared to a lot of people here so I was surprised I even got an sgr. I think i got it because im taking a lot of needed classes this spring so i understand if they want to see how i do in them before deciding on me. i was also on the trojan transfer plan and kind of a legacy? (my brother went there and currently 2 cousins go there) Not sure if important, just thought i’d throw that in there if anyone wanted to know. having said all this, i probably wont get in cuz this spring sem didn’t go too well for me but i guess we’ll see. Congrats to everyone who got in! and good luck to everyone else :D

Units completed: 64 as of today
Units in progress: Classes finished last Friday ^

GEs completed: All

Subjective:

ECs: Senior editor for our literary magazine! Lots of service: as a math tutor, assistant in our library, assistant in our annual international book fair (which is hosted by my school). Also, member of Rotaract and PTK, so service with them was usual! I mentored two freshmen this past year and helped them transition into college. Won first prize in a poetry competition and made it up to the finals in another one! And, most importantly, in one of my classes, my class and I created a scholarship for out of state students, as they have to pay 3 times regular tuition. In high school, I was in marching band and senior year I was saxophone section leader.
Job/Work Experience: I literary worked for, like, two weeks at our bookstore lol it was a temporary position
Essays (subject and responses): I wrote about my dream of being in/writing for SNL and writing for shows like The Office and 30 Rock. I also compared myself to Tina Fey and basically proved that we were long lost twins.
Letters of Recommendation: I’d say perfect. And probably the best part of the whole application. Love those professors!

Other:
For me, it’s either Cali, NYC, or Chicago where my dreams come true, so yeah! Good luck to everyone on everything! Just remember, if you don’t get in, there’s always another option! I’ve been rejected before and it hurts worst than passing kidney stones as you’re in labor, while being repeatedly stung by the ankle spurs of a male platypus lol just remember to keep on swimming!

It hasn’t really sunk in yet, but opening the package was probably the greatest day of my life to date… FIGHT ON!!!

Hello all,

I just received a spring grade request for the Marshall School of Business. I have a 3.66 cumulative gpa currently and I am wondering what gpa is looked for in the final semester. I am taking a very hard calculus class but every other class i’m taking should be an A.
