USC Transfer Decisions Thread 2015

Also, I am wondering what SGR really means?
Does it mean that I should submit Spring Grades from my current university to USC?
What if my semester hasn’t ended yet?
Could I send a midterm grades report instead?
Thank you!

Check that link out. That is where we are all are discussing applications. You will get more people who are in similar position as you are there, and they will be more helpful. This page is for stats only

Also, if you want to change, you have to call the counselor who is in charge of your district. She will be able to tell you if you can change your major at this point or not.

Also SGR is Spring Grade Request. You have to wait till your semester ends to send it. My friend got a SGR and the deadline to submit that it not until end of June

Wow! Congratulations! Have you decided which school to attend to?

Thank you! You have been very nice and helpful! I skimmed the admission blog and found out some info about SGR. My term wouldn’t end until July and I guess I will get my grades at the end of July. : ( So I am wondering if I can send a mid-term grades instead of my final grades?
Thanks for your kind tip. I will ask questions and get answers in that page later on  Good luck~

@AthenianSC I sent my mid term grades to my counselor without her asking for it. She added it to my file but I still got a SGR yesterday. I would send the mid term grade to the counselor and wait till the official grades are out because the deadline is not until June 30 anyway

Has anyone heard from Roski school of art and design? I applied as a sophomore transfer from NYU And have not received an SGR nor a decision.

@emaryg95 Post that on this thread, that’s where we are all discussing USC Fall 2015.

ACCEPTED!- Cinematic Arts, Film and Television Production

Decision Date & Time: May 15th, 2015 (Received in mail May 20th)

Stats:
College transferring from: Folsom Lake Community College, CA
Entering as: Junior
GPA: 3.4
Units completed: 47 units
Units in progress: 13 units
Pre-reqs completed: Don’t think there are any for my major…
GEs completed: All of them

Subjective:
ECs listed on app: Foreign exchange, other travels, Guide Dog puppy raiser
Job/Work Experience: 2 Retail jobs, production assistant on 2 short films and music video, editor for start up company online
Essays (subject and responses): Talked about how my foreign exchange showed I wanted to be involved in an international community. Others talked about what kind of film maker I want to be and how I plan on making it happen.
Letters of Recommendation: 4 of them, 1 teacher, 1 boss, and 2 directors/mentors

Other:
Other schools applied to: UCLA (denied), Chapman (denied), Loyola Marymount (denied)
Comments: I think my application was all about my essays and extra activities and experiences. My grades are nothing special but I made it clear in my essays what type of filmmaker I wanted to be. I also talked about how my travels have given me great stories to tell. Plus after I submitted my application, I did some research about USC’s mission statement or something and it talked a lot about wanting their students to be involved in the world community and so I got lucky that all my essays talked directly about this. Don’t give up guys! I was rejected by every other film school but USC accepted me. Everybody that applies has good grades so make sure they know who you are through your essays.

I thought LAVC was pretty cool. I’ve taken classes at 6 CCs in the LACC district and LAVC was one of the colleges I liked the most. The programming classes I took they were very fun and informative - I had to play catch up compared to what was offered at a previous CC I went to. I never thought I could make a 9 file program as a novice programmer, but I did it. Anyway, I liked the school :stuck_out_tongue:

Essays: Worked hard on them.
Letter of Recommendation: 2 (one from Spanish prof. + one from Anthropology prof)

It would be great if people could post if they got rejected as well SGR’s and Acceptances

Is this thread just not active anymore :frowning:

I guess some people just forget to post their stats. This was somewhat of an issue last year. Nobody ever liked posting their stats :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll post mine whatever my decision turns out to be.

@zettasyntax you’ll prolly be in you have a great gpa!

Should I be concerned if I have not formally received that request for Spring grades? I have sent them over and they were requested by my counselor but I did not receive the official request one of my friends did receive.

Do people realize that there is a difference between asking for your spring grades in an informal letter from Kirk Brennan and a very formally written letter specifically addressed to a student urging for Spring grades? I received the former and my friend from HS showed me the latter which I did not receive.
