USC Transfer Question?

So I got 3's on my AP Calculus AB and BC test and it's passing at my university. I know USC only takes scores 4 and higher and that I have to retake these classes again if I were to go transfer there.

But right now I'm taking Calculus 3 (Multivariable Calculus) and just wanted to know if taking this class will basically cover AB and BC so that I won't have to take it at USC. Kinda like how Calculus BC covers AB.

I’m going to guess that you’re looking to matriculate to Viterbi, in which case you should contact their admissions adviser directly. They were great with questions like that when I was applying, especially if you’re looking to transfer and still have a semester to go.

My gut instinct is that whether the university accepts those previous credits / AP scores is that it will be based upon your performance in those latter calculus classes (the ones you’re taking now). The point isn’t so much to obsess over any one class but over whether you’ve demonstrated mastery of the material, and you can demonstrate that both with AP tests and with successful performance in similar classes in college.

The big thing to remember with admissions to schools like USC is that it’s never any one thing. It’s the collective credentials and essays that you present that make them say that you would be a good fit for the school and that you matriculating there would be a mutually beneficial relationship both as a student and as a prospective alumnus / alumna.
