I am a student attending LACC and LAVC at the same time.
When I used the transfer guide system from USC, I got two different results.
One same class lands on the different category.
It is firm that the class is equivalent in LACC & LAVC, but that same class lands on the different category at different college.
For example, U.S. History 011, the class is classified as
“Humanistic Inquiry” in LACC and “Social Analysis” in LAVC.
However, my main school is in LACC, whereas I am taking that course in LAVC.
How do I figure this one out, when the same class lands on different category because it is at different college?
Do I have to e-mail USC?
Our D (who did successfully transfer to USC) contacted the admissions person at USC who was in charge of admissions for the geographic area where she lived. She got a lot of great guidance on course selection from him/her.
You should definitely contact your admission counselor for a definitive answers, but I doubt that a single course would be allowed to satisfy two different general education requirements. I attended ELAC, LATTC, WLAC, LAVC, LACC, and LATTC, so I have some experience with a fair amount of CC’s I know LAVC had different courses that could satisfy IGETC requirements compared to ELAC for instance, so I used my courses amongst the colleges in a way that actually allowed me to complete the IGETC pattern (I had applied for some UC’s as well). If anything, I can imagine the counselor telling you to determine which GE category you want it to satisfy.
I’m aware of that…that’s why I put I had applied for UCs in that parenthetical pause there I’m not sure I get your question then as it sounded like you were referring to their new general education requirements, so that’s a good idea to contact them on Monday then.
