USC transfers

Am I the only one who had a great admissions experience?

no, i definitely did too. usc was a dream compared to dealing with emory. gross.

student4u: 2 weeks today. i called them earlier today and they said "we haven't recieved your spring grades yet." but what i think they are trying to say is we haven't processed them yet. i am debating going down there and personally handing them to admissions. he said they are a week and a half behind, they are realllly lagging. do you think the delay has anything to do with not being accepted or on some kinda waitlist? its almost like they are stalling.

it took exactly 2 weeks from when i sent in my spring grades to receive ny decision, so be patient. Give it a few more days

overdoer -
the only other school i applied to was northwestern and i probably won't hear from them until the end of june/beginning of july. i've already sent in my deposit to usc, registered for orientation, and put a lease down on an apartment, though, so i've already made up my mind. and am really excited.

congrats on cornell and i hope you hear from sc soon!

shark, if it's been 2 weeks and they say they haven't recieved your grades yet, i'd be worried. I don't think they are stalling, they don't want to waste their time, nor yours.

Guitar,

You're not the only one in this situation. My school told me that they sent out my final transcripts on May 27th, which was exactly two weeks ago and USC still hadn't received them yesterday when I called them. The lady at the admissions office told me that it usually takes a little bit more than a week after they receive them to show up on their computer that they have been processed.

Good luck man. .I know what you are feeling. This wait is TORTURE!

oxygenbarfight-
end of june/early july??? I feel your paint - we're totally in the same boat. I sent in all my stuff to Cornell (deposit, housing, etc) as well. I'll prob go there unless SC comes through with some amazing financial aid package.

but yeah, I'm surprised that everyone else's experience has been positive. i'd say 14 out 15 people i've dealt with on the phone have been curt and rude. almost seems as if I'm taking up their precious time with my phone call, whereas the people at Cornell have bent over backwards to accommodate me. funny thing is, Cornell was kind of an afterthought...SC has been my first choice for a couple years until now. the only positive experience I've had was when I met with a transfer admission counselor on campus. The vibe I've gotten is a HUGE factor for me...I trust my gut.

i feel your 'paint' ? - what did that mean?? lol gotta love typos

PURO: yea, i picked up an extra transcript today to send tommorow, just to be safe. i also faxed them an unofficial copy earlier today. i don't want any excuses. from your experience, do you think we're gonna have any trouble getting into thornton? are they real picky as far as music stuff goes? whats your musical backround like? i hope we both get in, maybe next semester we'll have a class together? who knows.

GUITAR: I'm actually thinking of dropping off my transcripts myself at the Admissions Office next week. From what I remember you have a 3.8 so your GPA is above the average GPA for people that get accepted to the Music Industry Program. (A lady at Thornton's admission office told me that the average GPA was 3.7) I think you have a WAYYYYYYYY bigger chance to get into Thornton than I do. At the time of submitting Thornton's application I had a 3.3. . .fortunately I was able to get straight A's this past semester and now have a 3.5, even though I'm sure Thornton won't see this improvement.

I really hope you get in. I'm almost sure I won't. . .but one never knows.

Yea guys I had the same problem, but I made sure they received it. I faxed it over and persisted the representative to assure me he had it. You gotta be persistent when dealing with them. It took them like a week for them to even put my grades in my file. The USC admission office is very sluggish

yea, they do seem quite sluggish. you'd think for the tuition usc would be on top of their game as far as admissions is concerned.

puro, im not worried about the gpa as much as the music part. do you know anything about how musically gifted you must be to take part in the program? i know they don't require an audition but im curious to know what IS required to get thornton?

A contact I have in the admissions department said that it can take 2-4 weeks for transcripts to be processed. Mine were sent on the 31 of May. The contact also said that one could expedite the process by faxing unofficial Spring grades to admissions.

shark, did you take down your transcript and deliver it in person? I presume that you're going to get a response this week.

naww, im guessing late next week. and nope, just faxed one and mailed 2. if they get 1 of 3 that should be enough for some sort of decision.
