If I earn over $3000 and claim dependent, will the USC University Grant decrease ? Right now I will be getting $27000 from the grant.

I just read about how it effects federal grants, and was wondering if it affected USC's grant :

"Starting July 1, 2007, the federal government won't deduct any of the first $3,000 of the student's earnings against need-based financial aid, such as Pell grants. The government will continue to expect students to contribute to their college costs 50 cents of every dollar earned above that, however."

this sucks btw :(

This would be a good question to ask the financial aid office.

well i did email them but i was just wondering if anybody here happened to know

I was also wondering–about the university grant, is it renewed every year or is it just something granted to the freshment to encourage them to matriculate? o__o

cat,
Look through some of the aid threads. There is a post from a student who receives aid at SC. I believe he wrote it was renewed each year unless there had been a dramatic change in family finances. Naturally, a form will have to be filled out to renew.

Is work study included in student’s earnings?

no work study isn’t included. taht is considered a form of financial aid
