I am deciding between USC, ND, and Vandy.
What are the pros and cons of each school?

I forgot to add that Money isn’t a factor. Also, I know that ND and Vandy are more prestigious than USC, but I also got into the Thematic Option Program at USC…

Well, I just chose Vanderbilt over Notre Dame this week. I love both schools but decided that ND was a little too conservative for me. The single-sex dorms and parietals seem kind of ridiculous…I don’t know much about USC, but ND and Vandy are both great schools. I’m sure you would be happy at either one, but hopefully you’ll decide to join me at Vandy!

If you can provide some more information about yourself you will get more suggestions. What is the Thematic Options program, what is your intended major, is a Catholic school important to you, what types of social outlets are you looking for, where are you from, etc.

Okay here’s more information about me…

Well I’m not very religious, so I’m thinking that ND might be too conservative for me.

I’m from California (Bay Area) and was wondering if I would feel out of place in the South or Midwest. I’m also an ethnic minority.

I like the social scene at Vandy and USC and know that I would be able to have fun there. I also like how they aren’t in the middle of nowhere like ND.

Applying to all of these schools, I put that my major was Undecided. However, I think that I am leaning towards wanting to major in Business.

I know that Vanderbilt and ND are considered more prestigious then USC, but if I attended USC I would be in the Thematic Options program there, which is like an interdisciplinary honors program.

Hope this helps…thanks guys!

Honestly, USC might be a better fit. I’d toss out ND though and definitely look at Vandy-USC. Vanderbilt does not have a Business major or anything like it (although there is a “Managerial Studies” minor).

sugar&spice,

Is economics with a managerial studies minor close enough to business? If you want to see a different part of the country, Nashville is a very nice place to be a student.
