ok so i have narrowed it down to these two and i don't know what to do

Both are wonderful universities! Congrats on your admittances! Well done you :)

Do you want to stay in CA or go to Indiana. (You will expereince a different type of winter in Indiana.)

Do you have a “major” interest? Or even a specific departmental interest that might tip the scales?

Any financial concerns about the cost of visiting home?

Obviously, one is a Catholic University, USC is not. Do you care?

They’re about even regarding school spirit & sports atmosphere.

Whatever you choose, it’s all good! Best of luck to you.

hey! these are the same two schools I am considering I’m not alone…
I’m still completely torn between the two schools, though I’ve visited both.

I have visited both campuses and they were both beautiful. As far as finacial aid, Notre Dame gave me a much better offer. Being a hispanic student, I am a little worried about whether I will fit in there.

cindyesp, What is your major? What area of the country do you plan on working once you graduate? How much better of a financial aid package in dollars did ND give you vs. USC?

Fight On!

Factor in that if you’re from CA, the finances of going back and forth at holidays, etc will be more costly. You’ll also need full winter gear for ND winters.

I can’t imagine being hispanic would be a problem at ND! You may have done so, but post this question on the ND site. I’m sure you’ll hear from fellow students on the subject.

Best of luck to you

I am majoring in Business… USC offered me 3,000 in loans and even though my fafsa efc was 0 they raised it to 4,875… so thats close to 8,000 … where at notre dame i would have to pay 1,300

Go where it would be cheaper for you. These 2 schools are equivalent.

cindyesp, It sounds like the cost is driving you to ND, but all things being equal, you’d rather go to USC. Have you contacted financial aid to tell them about your dilema? It sure seems like the $7,700 gap in aid is something USC could work with if you just presented your ND offer to them.

Also, I’m with doame on the cost and hassle of traveling. You need to factor that in for sure!

ND is in a very rural area as I’m sure you know. You have to go to Chicago to get anything close to the culture and activity that you’d experience at USC. I can also understand your concerns regarding the homogenous studentbody and the possible lack of a latino culture. USC has a very vibrant latino community.

Good Luck and Fight On!

While ND’s campus is quite beautiful, it is rural. And while it is a college campus, South Bend would be a bit less diverse than you are used to. I know when I visit the midwest I tend to feel out of place. That said, the people are nice.

I agree with contacting USC’s financial aid to see if there is anything they can do to match ND’s offer. It can’t hurt.

HEY! I’m deciding between the same schools as you! Same major and everything too!

AND I’m also hispanic (well, half). And like you, I’m not sure if I will fit in very well at Notre Dame since it’s not as diverse as USC…

Cindyesp, have you decided where you are going?

Which school did you choose?

Hopefully I’ll get into ND to be forced to make this choice two years from now…

I just read on the Notre Dame site that OP chose Notre Dame. It was posted on 05-11-09… She had posted the same dilemma thread on both U’s sites. I hope she loves it :)
