USC v/s Brown

Hi

I have got admits for both Uni of Southern California (MS in CS with speciality in data science) and Brown (MS in CS). As per as much research, their is not much of a difference between the total cost for 2 years. I have heard both +ve and -ve points about both the universities but that hasnt helped in making a decision. Can anyone suggest me where should i join and why?

Thanks
Ishan

There is a separate section for grad student postings you will get more opinions from people who go to grad school over there. They are both very good. I don’t know why you personally should go to one over the other. I don’t know you and what you like or your specific goals.

You will do just fine coming out of Brown, but USC may give you more immediate access to a thriving center of innovation- “Silicon Beach”. There are many more startups in the LA area than Providence, maybe even including Boston.

Let’s assume the education is about the same. I would pick USC for the weather.

As for specialization, I’m sure you could focus on Data Science work at Brown, but if USC has a specialized track that you are interested in, it probably makes sense to go that route.
