My decision is between USC and Duke. I got accepted to the engineering schools for both colleges, but I do not know what type of engineering I would like to pursue. I am getting the Presidential Scholarship from USC ($16,000), making tuition for USC about $28,000 whereas Duke would be around $45,000. Any thoughts?

Did you get your financial aid package yet? If not, wait until you get your financial aid offers before making a decision, if it will be based just on the money. Re: USC: I got the Presidential, but also a very nice grant (15,000 something) which makes it hard to say no to the Viterbi school!

Viterbi is definitely better than Duke in Engineering. I've never even heard of Duke engineering, while Viterbi definitely has name recognition among engineering circles.

I don't know which part of the country you hail from, but my son visited Duke & USC (for business, not engineering) and SC was a huge favorite. I have to admit his parents are both Bruins too!!!
