usc. vs georgetown

Can anyone comment on the overall attitudes of these different schools, or even just the coasts? I was set on Georgetown until I visited and got a very snobby vibe, but I've been told this is just eastern mentality (im from chicago). im a pretty laid back person, and I dont know if I would be happy there. please help me! may 1 is disgustingly close...
i know everyone here is obviously biased, but any insight would be so helpful.

I am from Cape Cod, MA and the whole East Coast "snob" issue is not true. I can definitely say that the East coast is not to blame for the snobiness you recieved, (although New Yorkers do have a slight issue with this) it was more likely from the whole DC thing (ie being the center of the nation, or something.) But I can certainly say from my experience, East coast people aren't snobby, very sarcastic and cynical, but definitly not snobby.

My freind is going to Georgetown and she is really excited. My cousin also went there, and is currently doing very well (he was a business major.) So I believe that Georgetown is a good school (but this all depends on the major, of course.) But, I, on the other hand, am going to USC, so in no way am I saying that Georgetown is better than USC, because obviously, if I'm going to USC, it mustn't be that great (some East coast sarcasm for you.)

Overall, I would say that it all depends on what you are plannign to major in- Political Science or something to that effect, I would probably say Georgetown, but anything else, I would definitly go with USC- it's California!

I can't say much about Georgetown, but as for USC...

The atmosphere is laid-back, you will have people laying around on the grass who are reading, sunbathing, eating, talking w/ friends, sleeping, etc.

And the "happiness factor" is definately there; the students are all happy to be at USC.

Regarding mad-toast's post, I don't know if Georgetown's (international) business is obviously better than USC. Marshall/business is #9, and there are specific programs like International/East Asian/Cimena business available if you're a business major --it's all about what you make of USC's oppurtunities!

Georgetown snobby?? Dunno what school you were at. Personally, I like both schools and have been around Georgetown a lot (not only do I live outside DC but my dad's a Hoya alum). I would say DC is a better city when it comes to getting out and doing stuff in the surrounding area. You definitely don't need a car at Georgetown; the METRO is an awesome public transport system.
