USC vs Johns Hopkins vs Vanderbilt

For studying International Relations, which would you choose? What if you weren't sure if you were going to stick with IR and might change to something else in the social sciences eventually?

USC
Johns Hopkins
Vanderbilt

Thanks!

Assume the cost is not a factor…

for IR,

JHU > USC >> Vanderbilt

Thank you. And what about if there was a good possibility you would change your major later? Probably to something in social sciences. What school would you want to be at, not knowing what your future major might be?

<<bumping>></bumping>

JHU is excellent in all the social sciences. I know that east asian studies is very strong.

Also there is a 5 year BA/MA with SAIS.

Also, switching between majors at JHU seems fairly easy due to their distribution requirements. Courses taken to satisfy IR reqs will most likely satisfy social science reqs as well. In addition, majors are designed to be completed in three years, so a double major is available as well.

All three are great universities but for international studies it is not close–Johns Hopkins by a mile.

Hopkins’ International Studies program is really good.
