Hi! I have a bit of a dilemma and am hoping that someone can lend me a hand.
I was accepted to USC and Northwestern University and need some suggestions on where to attend. I will be going to school for theatre and am very serious about it as a future career, however I do have many other interests that I would love to pursue (or at least take classes in). I know that both schools are very good, but is one better?
I am also a little concerned about the social aspect. I am a very social person, but not a huge partier. I enjoy them now and then, but I am not the kind of person who goes crazy every weekend. Would I fit in more in one social scene vs the other?

Thank you sososososososo much for any suggestions! Any help at all is appreciated!

for theater? if you are serious about acting/ the entertainment industry I would definitely choose USC!! Even if you decide to take a different career path, USC has tons of other options as far as careers go. And a great alumni network in LA.

My D is a sophomore theater major at Northwestern and I can say that the theater program is fantastic there. So many talented kids and alumni!!! My feeling is that for theater or musical theater, probably Northwestern is better. USC MAY have the edge for film work although I hear that there is a strong “purple mafia” out on the West Coast! Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Zach Braff, David Schwimmer, Steven Colbert, Seth Meyers are recent NU theater/film/communications graduates. Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Meredith Vieria send their kids to Northwestern for theater…

The School of Theatre is distinguished. I do hope you will take the time to view the website and see the numerous productions where students are participating. Training is first rate.

SC’s theatre students do have the extra bonus of the close association with the incredible School of Cinematic Arts. However, there is classical trainng for the stage. Alumni have won Emmys, Golden Globes, Laurence Olivier honors and Palme d’Or…as well as Academy Awards.
