USC vs. Some Other Notable Schools..

If i could chose any 4 schools to apply to it would be these three for reasons that are important to me. just wondering could anyone rank the three in order from hardest to easiest to get into?

-USC
-Northwestern (ED)
-Michigan (oos)
-UChicago (EA)

?

?

?

?

thanks.

bump(10char) thanks guys

I don’t really have the expertise to answer this one. Don’t over bump it, though, people will just get annoyed. I usually takes a few hours for anything to be answered.

Much is going to depend on the major/school.

major = business or CAS.

Here are some stats about admissions:

The acceptance rate for each school:
USC 25%
Northwestern 30%
Michigan 47%
Chicago 38%

USN&WR ranks schools based on selectivity. Based on your list, these are the selectivity rankings:
1. USC and Northwestern (Both tied overall at #19)
 2. Michigan (Overall #23)
 3. Chicago (Overall #24)

Mid-50% SAT (CR+Math) for 2007-2008:
Northwestern 1423 (enrolled; mean) 1390-1560 (admitted)
Chicago 1350-1500 (enrolled)
USC 1280-1460 (enrolled); 1320-1480 (admitted)
Michigan 1310-1460 (admitted)

Considering the strength of applicant pool:

 1. Chicago/Northwestern
 2. USC/Michigan (OOS)

I agree with Sam Lee about considering strength of the applicant pool:

Chicago

Northwestern

USC

Michigan

As much as I like USC and the kids they admit, I (personally) know many kids who go to Chicago, and they certainly deserve plenty of respect. For the most part, the kids there are very strong (though no offense to anyone, I’ve got to admit the stereotype seems to be true… HYP/Ivies rejects)

isnt UChicago’s admit rate for EA 48%!

Probably this:
-UChicago (EA) /Northwestern (ED)
-Michigan (oos)
-USC

Chicago has high admit rate because only highly enthusiastic people apply. For non-residents, Michigan is really tough if you apply after December but might be is easier than USC if apply now.

You can’t really compare USC to Chicago/NU. The campus environment is almost the opposite.

i heard UChicago is all over the place with admissions like stats and sats are not all they are looking for… i heard for example essay is very important? this true? how bout.. USC are they like this or a little more stats based?

Essay and EC’s very important for USC admissions. Take a look at the diversity in stats on the Official Decisions 2007 thread.
