I have been accepted into both Swarthmore and the University of Southern California. I plan to go into engineering, specifically environmental engineering. I am not 100% sure I want to do engineering, but that is the plan as of now. Both schools appeal to me and I am having trouble deciding between the two because they are quite different. Is USC respected for its engineering? Swarthmore? What is your take on these colleges? I'm open to hear it all!

Yes, USC is highly respected for its engineering. And the Southern California region has numerous opportunities for an aspiring environmental engineer. I’m personally in touch with USC alums at LADWP, SoCal Edison and SoGal Gas.

And if you’re not 100% sure about engineering, you have numerous alternatives at USC. Or you could major in engineering and minor in something completely different. USC encourages study in disparate fields: http://www.usc.edu/programs/ugprograms/renaissance/

I don’t know much about Swat, other than it’s an absolutely top notch liberal arts college.

Have you visited both schools? They are total opposites in location, atmosphere, weather. If any of those things are important to you, you definitely need to visit.

@museoffire I will only be able to visit Swarthmore. I understand that they are opposites, and because I seem to like both ends of the spectrum, I don’t know what to choose. The only thing that may be difficult for me is the cold at Swarthmore, because I am from Florida and not really used to that.
