USC vs Tulane architecture

I am from California, not far away from LA which is where USC is. I get accepted by both schools. I really don’t know which school should I choose. USC is more prestigious, has a better architecture program, and stronger connections. But the total cost is almost $400,000 for 5 years. Personally I hate LA and want to move out of California. Tulane gives me some scholarship which helps me a lot, don’t give me wrong, TSA is good, but TSA is not as well-known as USC’s. Few days ago, I talked to an architect that he told me USC’s architecture is the best and firms prefer students graduate from USC. I really like USC’s program but the cost is really huge, is USC really worth it for me to pay $400,000?

Try UW instead. The profession is saturated and you’re entering very risky territory. Be careful.

@SeattleTW I didn’t apply UW

I figured as much. I cannot in good conscience urge you to go to USC or Tulane unless you have the financial resources and won’t need to borrow a lot. How much will you need to borrow at both places?

@SeattleTW I don’t need to borrow moneyfor either school, but USC will cause my family’s finical pressure.

I;m puzzled. You say you hate LA, so why would you stay there? SC is totally in the heart of the city. If you go to USC, you will have a better chance at getting a job in LA, then you will have to live there longer.

Tulane is a fascinating school in a really cultural town, with historic architecture. Fun, engaged, bright students, that are interested in new experiences. I promise, people successfully leave Los Angeles and have great interesting lives. There is a big world out there, college is a perfect time to go explore it. You can always come back to California. My D went away to school, and says it’s the best decision she ever made.

Thank you for your advice, I like USC but it happens to locate in LA. And I am not a big fan of LA. I have already committed to USC. I put academic and my future before my feelings about LA. And there will be a high chance that I will go to China to work after I graduate since China pays way more for architect than here.And I don’t need to live in LA any more. @Maggpie
