usc vs. ucla

why ucla over usc? right now im leaning towards usc, anyone have any good points as to why ucla would be more beneficial? thanks!

have you visited both schools?

I'd pick USC over UCLA because of their football team.

unless your a basketball fan

well, what are you interested in studying? each school has their strengths and their weaknesses.

UCLA is cheaper!

UCLA is cheaper!

Depends. USC gives good aid packages. For someone in the middle class to upper middle class brackets, USC may actually be cheaper.

 (I wish you could bold this...)

Now to help the OP.

caliboi,

I think a lot will depend on what you're looking for in a university. USC is going to probably offer you a bit more of the "tight-knit community" feel than UCLA. However, UCLA's prestige value is still, despite USC's recent gains, higher in many areas.

Both are large research universities with powerful sports programs. Both are in LA, though UCLA's in a better part of the city by most standards.

I think UCLA is better respected in the academic community, but USC has excellent programs that are helping it to grow stronger and catch up to UCLA rather quickly.

I'd say visit both and see how they "feel" to you.

13-9

Also, 65-64.

also, factor in oos costs irt likely aid pckgs

Are you Asian?

no i am not asian-isnt ucla like 40% asian?

Yea, unfortunately. The school promulgate how they're very diverse when in reality diversity for them means asians only, unlike USC where you see true diversity and better quality of education.

^ Ouch! (10 chars).

i agree taht ucla is not racially diverse. its all asian and white. hwoever, usc is not much better. a few extra scholarship minorities doesnt hide the fact that its predomiately rich and white (whilst ucla is predomiantely middle class and asian).

UCLA live on the borderline of Westwood, Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, and they call USC the "University of Spoil Children" and act more "Hollywood" then them. You guys are nothing but a bunch of hypocrite who will all be working for USC when you graduate in 6 years.

and to think that you were once a ucla>usc person.

sigh.

Is "working for USC" my only choice upon graduation?

Nikkei I should hope you're kidding around

On a side note, the kids that actually LIVE (grew up) in Westwood, Bel Air, and Beverly Hills tend to go to USC.

^ That's so true. And you hear people complaining about how the USC kids stick around Westwood because USC's neighborhood is so shotty. To be honest, I don't think I've met anyone that actually resides in this area. Most are from East L.A. / Orange County / Valley.
