CC Top Universities is based on rankings from four years ago. USC has gained on UCLA since then.

I dont see how aid makes USC more appealing, it is the same as UCLA. scholarships are the only usable

USC is much more likely to give grants rather than loans.

USC has a really good engineering program

Those numbers don't tell the whole story...

I am a freshman honors engineer at the USC Viterbi School, and it is an amazing program! The support that is given to the students here is unparalleled. It is a collegial atmosphere, not cut throat - we all work together. We have networking seminars and lunches every week with experts in the industry. I have a very cool (paying) job working in an engineering lab - pretty cool for a freshman! And I can earn my master's degree by staying an additional year. I could go on and on, but check this out:

Top Ten Reasons to choose USC engineering:

SMC > ELAC

pac10, do you know prof. eun sok kim? in ee

sounds like korean.

Based on what i learned and observed of my coworkers who go to USC, i would have prefferd to go there. For one, they have a guiding hand, someone walks them through the entire undergrad process, they do not need to seek out any assistance, the assistance comes to them, their advisors send them to internships, guide them through class choices, email them to schedule appointments... someone does all those things for them, at UCLA, you will have to get things done yourself, make your own appointments and learn how to be 1 amongs 50k....... UCLA is more for the go getters, USC is more for those who need guidance....... and i am not saying this in a bad way, trust me, in your undergrad the easier they make it for you the better.

Secondly, the SEMESTER system, i can not stress this enough, semester is much much better, quarter system is by far not for everyone.

One USC coworker put it very nice when i said "i have midterms"... he replied with, " for us its gold stars and flowers right now" (it was only the 3rd week of school for him)

USC has more grade inflation thatn UCLA---------this is based on only the small sample of people i work with, about 20 of us, all either USC or UCLA students.......

Because you pay, and you pay a lot, they told me that USC has no desire to fail you, if you do the minimum you get a B.

It all depends on waht you want your undergad experience to be like. I think USC , being a private school, definatley provides more for their students........ but then again , you get what you paid for.

UCLA is by no means a bad school, its just diffferent, its a lot more "real life" like than USC in my opinion, and thats neither here or there if youask me, undergrad is undergad and by all means, it would be very nice if you were walked through it and gave out with your 3.5+ and went off to a good grad school/job. You can learn real life once your living it.

^all of the above is true. it's an easier school, there's more guidance, and the semester system is far more laid back.

but UCLA is still better for the real world. USC is ideal if you are on a trust fund after college.

you CANNOT deny the amazingly powerful Trojan Family network.

Semester system is easier? I've always thought the rigor between a semester and quarter system were no different because you tend to take more units during a semester system which balances out with the shorter, less units, and compressed, quarter system.

yeah but we have more work .

basically, my friends at semester system colleges arent working as hard as we are.

so says the self-proclaimed 'workaholic';)

I knew I should have went to Cal. :P

this is somewhat off topic, but everytime i walk by the inverted fountain between 1045 and 11am......... i hear the same thing over and over being said by the UCLA tour guide "tommy trojan is a man in a skirt" ........ what is the point of a ULCA tour bashing USC? i dont get it at all.

Should have gone. Gone.

With conjugation like that, I might be inclined to say that USC is a better fit.

For fun. For school pride. Because all schools do it.

I love how UCLAri is always there to help me out with grammatical errors. :P
