<p>I currently attend a community college and plan on going to med school. I can't decide if I should transfer to UCLA or USC. Which school is better recognized by med schools? At UCLA I would be a biology major but at USC I would probably go into the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention major</p>

<p>If you're just looking for recognition, people in the Bay Area where I live generally think higher of UCLA as a whole. But then again, we're just one area.</p>
<p>UCLA would be so much cheaper for you but overall, it doesn't matter in terms of future success. My brother is graduating from Berkeley this year, doing his mcat then going to med school. As long as you do well in the classes you're taking and have been doing strong programs, the schools will recognize that no matter what.
So yea...as much as it pains me to say it because I hate UCLA, I think it's the smarter choice because med school is gonna be really expensive. Also, unless you're a film major, USC is really small and boring.</p>
<p>UCLA = USC for pre-med. Go where it's cheaper for you, or you'd be happier and get better grades. Save your money for med school.</p>
<p>neither is going give you an advantage over the other with respect to med schools. A question like this, though, makes me think the person asking doesn't really understand how med schools decide who to admit. The name on the diploma pales in comparison to what you do. The grades you get, the scores you get, the effort you make to get to know some profs so you get personal and strong recommendations, volunteer work in a medical setting, and research experience.</p>
