USC vs. UCLA

Which would you choose? And why?

UCLA easily for me. Better campus, reputation, and area. I’m a huge basketball fan and not a huge football fan, making UCLA more interesting for me. Typically cheaper. I get wonderful vibes from UCLA, but not so great vibes from USC. One factor that drew me to USC is that the classes are easier and more leniently graded, and average GPA’s are higher. I say this since my roommate last year transferred from UC Riverside (where we both went) to USC, and I’ve talked to him about his experiences in classes. He tells me it’s far easier to get an ‘A’ at USC.

Note: I actually HAVE had to make this decision, haha. I threw USC out of the running and am deciding between UCLA and Berkeley.

I’m not trying to insult USC. I can see that it’s right for some people, since the class sizes are generally smaller and all that. Just not right for me.

arcadefire- go to ucla for sure.

Well, I got into Berkeley as well (which is much stronger for my major), so I’m still trying to decide. But if it were just USC vs UCLA I would certainly take UCLA.

@arcadefire1027, your reasoning doesn’t really make sense… so you rather go to a school where it’s harder for you to get A’s??? what’s so appealling about having large classes that are taught mostly by TA’s who aren’t helpful. at the end of the day both UCLA & USC are great schools and you should make your choice on your own personal preferences. But if you can maintain a higher grade at USC then you should probably go there …the disparity between the academics at USC & UCLA is not that big.

collegetrail: No. I said that was a factor in the way of USC. As in, that was a positive for USC. My sentence was - “One factor that drew me to USC is that the classes are easier and more leniently graded, and average GPA’s are higher.”

For me, that factor doesn’t outweigh all the positives that I feel UCLA (and Berkeley) have over USC.

haha fair enough, i just hate berk
