USC vs UCSD Engineering

I've been accepted to both these colleges, and have to make the choice now. I'm a computer engineering major at ucsd, and computer engineering and computer science at usc.

Assuming I'll be paying about the same thing, does one have a distinct advantage in this area over the other? I'd love to hear any other insights or considerations you have about either of these schools.

As a side-note, I've been waitlisted at Harvey Mudd, and will pretty certainly go there if I'm accepted.

Thanks

USC, they are both ranked about the same, but you can’t beat SC’s alumni connections.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Since you’re from OOS you may like USC’s more geographically diverse student body. USC also has way more “rah, rah” school spirit than UCSD. (Although since you applied to HMC, this may be of little interest to you… )

For engineering, there are no distinct differences. Both will offer great educations.

While 'SC does have a strong alumni network, its application to the engineering industry is not very strong. (i.e. engineering doesn’t require strong alumni connections to get jobs)

Haha, I’m not OOS. The location is a joke. I guess you don’t watch South Park?

And yes, while I don’t want to go to a school with absolutely no spirit (Cal Poly Pomona comes to mind), I don’t find the USC dogmatic type of school spirit very appealing. I feel like I’d be much happier at UCSD - I get the feeling that it matches my personality more, but I can’t shake the feeling that I’d have more/better opportunities at USC.

Does anyone want to argue this?

Ah, yeah, I watch South Park…one of the best written shows on TV. Sorry, just saw Colorado.

Go to UCSD! USC will NOT provide any more opportunities over UCSD, especially for engineering.
