I'm a Midwest kid. I've been admitted as engineer (chemical) into both these schools, although I'm probably going to switch my major to ee or ce/cs.
The financial costs for me are relatively the same at both schools. The travel costs add $1500(?) I would guess for USC, but overall cost isn't a factor in my decision.
At which school would I have better internship and job opportunities? Which school has a better reputation among employers? Should I decide on whether I wanna live Chicago or Cali after graduation?

I’m in almost the exact same situation and would be interested to hear some people’s opinions

I’m from Chicago also and I got money at USC while nothing at UIUC so I’m going to USC but a lot of my family members have been engineers at UIUC and all have had great opportunities after graduation. Rankings wise, you can’t get much better than in state tuition at one of the best engineering schools in the country; but if you want to get rid of this cold weather (40s on spring break) then head out to LA
