I have been admitted to both the University of Rochester and USC. I am trying to decide between the two, given that I am interested in majoring in Biology and pursuing the pre-medical track. I have a $16k scholarship to Rochester each year, and USC gave me $3750 for each year. The money is not very important as I am more interested in the quality of academics, professors, ability to publish research papers, dorms, campus, etc. Please let me know what you think!
In favor of UR, it places athletics in proper context in comparison to most U.S. colleges, and particularly in comparison to USC. However, USC’s student profile has improved markedly in recent years, and should be considered seriously as well for this reason.
U of R has a great reputation. The student I know there, a STEM major, loves it and feels she is getting a very high quality education.
