usc vs yale

Go for it. You never know, right? Admission, after you meet those initial “numbers”, is 50% luck.

“usc’s screenwriting program. i know that going there could get me a ton of connections in the industry. i wouldnt have to study to improve my sat scores for a retake in january”

connections is no small thing! You still have to be a very good writer, but then you’ll need the connection!

Are you sure you can get in to USC’s screen writing program, it’s very competitive…3.9uw and 2200 SAT will probably do it. And a good essay:)

^screenwriting program is WAY more heavily based on the supplements you submit. so not even a 4.0, 2400 alone is gonna be enough to get someone into it. you have to already have writing talent and display it through a bunch of supplemental materials. that’s what they’re really looking for. then if the screenwriting program accepts you, you just have to meet the minimum requirements for usc in general (probably like a 3.5 gpa, 2100 sat minimum) and then you get accepted. :)

Ah, yes. Screenwriting. Everyone wants to switch into screenwriting or critical studies. And then everyone else wants to switch into business. :D

switch into screenwriting from what? i thought the film major was the most popular. screenwriting seems a bit more…i dunno, specific.

There isn’t a “film” major, dear. It’s split into screenwriting, critical studies, production, interactive media, animation, and the joint program (entertainment business). If you’re in screenwriting or critical studies or production, people would say that you’re “studying film”. But there is no broad major of just FILM. In terms of popularity, the SCA is probably the most prestigious out of all the USC programs. But not the most popular, no! It’s hard to get in, remember. The most POPULAR major (or maybe most “populous”) would be business administration.

yeah i know all about the different sections. i meant “film production” by “film major”. some ppl at usc–if they’re in the production major–call it “film major”. i’ve never heard anyone call screenwriting, crit studies, or animation “film” major.

but yeah, sca is the most competitive and prestigious at usc by far. even though business is the most populous, it seems to be the second most prestigious school at usc.
