What is everyones application Status check saying? Is it still the same message that we have had for that past month?

@Lefttenant Yeah, I think so.

Does anyone else see this in Financial Aid Status?:

We have not received any application documents for federal or USC need-based financial aid programs.

To initiate an application for federal or USC need-based financial aid, please submit a FAFSA. We will notify you if any additional documents are required.

If you wish to be considered for only a Federal Parent PLUS Direct Loan, please submit a FAFSA and complete an Enrollment & Housing Form.

If you are not applying for financial aid but are expecting to receive a scholarship, please direct any questions to the department or organization issuing the scholarship.

Mine has a new message above the ‘message regarding scholarships’ thing, but all it says is ‘sent’, the actual message (I presume regarding my decision) doesn’t appear.

@fightonn Did you have the class/major on your FA before it was down?

Yes, I had my class and my first-choice major listed. @kerning

@friedfishchen That’s definitely a possibility, but they don’t give out enough merit scholarships for there to be that many students with class/major updated.

Did anyone have their class/major shown who applied AFTER the merit scholarship deadline? Or was it unknown/unknown?

I’m pretty sure all the people that had “class/major” displayed had applied before the merit scholarship deadline (December 1st).

@kerning There seem to be a lot on here http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/docs/uscScholarships1415.pdf (not including the January ones, there’s potential for at least 200 other smaller scholarships), unless they’ve already been given out. Yeah, it might not be true though — I’m just trying to comfort myself.

All I can say is I submitted it on the day of the deadline; wondering about the other people too though.

Scratch that; at least 300-400 (they’re all relatively small though).

I had my first-choice major and I just tried to register housing, and my application went through. Does that mean I got in, or is any applicant with a USC id capable of registering for housing regardless of admission status?

@fightonn the “sent” means nothing. It’s just a header for the actual sent date.

@fightonn
Any applicant is capable of registering for housing. However, I wouldn’t recommend registering for housing before you’re accepted, USC Housing has been known to throw those applications out…

my application went through, but I didn’t check the major/class thing over the weekend

New Blog Post: Mission Accomplished! - Moments ago, we bid adieu to a truck full of admission decisions.

EVERYBODY:

Just to clear things up, unknown/unknown CAN’T POSSIBLY mean an automatic rejection. Here is a quote from their most recent blog post:

That means unknown/unknown probably doesn’t mean the 100% admit/reject decision that we were projecting.

Mission Accomplished!

Moments ago, we bid adieu to a truck full of admission decisions. They are officially mailed today! So exciting! To keep with our USC Admission Blog tradition, Dean of Admission Tim Brunold was kind enough to write a guest blog again this year. Read more as he reflects over the file review season and provides some data about our recently admitted first-year class.

We. Are. Done.
(at least with our review of first-year applications).
Not only did we receive record numbers—more than 51,700 applicants for the freshman class—but our admission committee enjoyed getting to know the finest, most interesting group of students it has ever had the privilege of reading.
Thanks for sticking with us over this past year. We have needed and used every single minute since our deadlines passed to select this class. More than 20,000 staff hours (the equivalent of ten years of full-time work for one person) have been spent reading, evaluating and discussing candidates. In fact, we finalized the last of our decisions just about eight hours ago.
Choosing students is equal parts art and science. While I am confident that the team here at USC has made the best decisions possible, I am certain that not everyone will agree with our judgment. Although we are thrilled to have identified the most impressive admitted class in USC’s 134-year history, we are also dismayed that so many incredible students were turned away; there just wasn’t enough room. None of us takes joy or pride in this part of our work. We are, however, somewhat consoled by the fact that our applicants have myriad options for higher education. Past experience shows us that everyone will find a place that is right for them.

Now on to some facts about this fall’s admitted freshman class:
• 51,700 first-year applicants
• 17.8% admission rate
• 3,150 different high schools represented from all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and 80 other countries
• 44% from California
• Outside California, the most represented states are Texas, New York, Illinois, Washington, Florida and New Jersey
• 17% are international students. The most represented places of origin are China, South Korea, India, Canada and Taiwan
• 1-in-8 is the first in their family to attend college
• 65% are African American, Latino, Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander or multi-ethnic
• The average un-weighted GPA, on a 4-point scale, is 3.82.
• 28% of admits have perfect un-weighted GPAs of 4.0
• 47% enrolled in 8 or more AP courses
• 75% had standardized test scores in the 95th percentile or higher. More than 3,300 had standardized test scores in the 99th percentile.

So what’s next?
If you have applied for financial aid, you’ll be hearing about that very soon. We are committed to getting this information to you quickly, since only 35 days remain until you must commit to enroll.
We will be hosting forty-eight(!) events for admitted students, both on- and off-campus, over the next month. We sure would like to meet as many students and parents as possible. Check your admission packet or our website for further details – we’ll be waiting for you. And if you haven’t yet visited campus, now’s the time to do so.
Many years have passed since I helped to recruit my first class of USC students. A lot has changed here since 1989, but one thing has remained constant: the deep pride that our students, faculty, staff and alumni have for being members of the Trojan Family.
Thanks for reading and FIGHT ON!

@yoskis So I guess we "unknown/unknown"s still have a chance? Perhaps they were updating it partially??

yes, my guess is that the majors displayed showed the decisions of a portion of the applications but not all.

So First Class mail takes 3-5 days to get across the nation…good thing we have USConnect!

@Gr8TrnRob1903 It’s priority I think! 1-3 days…it should get to California people by tomorrow and us East coasters by Friday…SO ANXIOUS right now! literally pulling out my hair over this.

^ it is priority for the acceptances, firstclass for the rejections

@yoskis I guess I shouldn’t be afraid to check my mail anymore then – if something is there on Friday it’s hopefully good news, if I don’t – good bye to the Trojan life!
