USC's Thornton School of Music Receives Gift for New Hall

<p>Alice Schoenfeld, of USC's Thornton School of Music, has committed $3 million dollars to create a new symphonic hall on the SC campus. She has been the holder of the Schoenfeld Endowed Chair at Thornton.</p>

<p>The facility will be a dedicated orchestra rehearsal hall. It will feature complete audio and video recording capabilities with the latest technology. Included will be a custom designed percussion storage area, humidity control systems, lighting and suspended flooring for sound isolation.</p>

<p>Alice and her sister, Eleonore, have both been on the faculty at Thornton. Eleonore was the holder of the Gregor Piatigorsky Chair in Violoncello until her death in 2007.</p>
