I have not seen an honors invite on mine and would not expect to be invited with my stats. So maybe not everyone got invited for honors who was admitted on monday.
Anyone have any theories on when next wave of decisions come out? This process is rough!
On their website it says: [Incoming First-Year] Students receiving the Alcalá Merit award will find the application materials on their USD portal. All other students should send a brief email to honors@sandiego.edu to request the application.
https://www.sandiego.edu/honors/admission.php
So I’m assuming that’s why not all the students who were admitted on the first day have an invitation to apply to the Honors Program on their portal.
My daughter has never had anything about Honors on her portal. I’m hopeful she’ll still get some kind of merit aid (for her sake!)
On the USD Admissions Instagram, it shows the Director of Admissions signing a huge stack of admissions letters @usdadmissions
Funny, I just called Admissions to see if perhaps my daughter was invited to honors, even though not on her portal. The rep could not find out quickly, and asked me to email Honors. I asked about when financial details would be released, and she said that merit will come in hard copy with the acceptance letter by mail, and that they are “trying to get them out right now.” Financial aid in “a couple of weeks.”
Happy Ash Wednesday! Sorry for my absence today. My guess is that about once a week we can expect a wave to roll out. Also thank you to @raisinsmith for your input about the Instagram post. I am, of course, still waiting.
@raisinsmith I saw that too!
That stack on Instagram looks quite sizable. No way that is just the honors students. Only 6500 students are admitted meaning the top 650 are invited to honors. There are more than 650 pieces of paper. Looks closer to 1000 in that stack at least.
My daughter just got an email from USD that says:
Your University of San Diego application status has recently been updated. Click on the button below to learn more. (You’ll want to click this button …trust us.)
Warm regards,
Minh-Ha Hoang
Director of Admissions
@raisinsmith Perhaps those are the emails to catch up for the updates from Monday night.
Funny thing is her portal still says “Committee Review” LOL
Mine still says ready for review. Ugh, I want to find out
Maybe another wave will be released tonight just because of the matter that more than 650 acceptances were in that stack meaning that there are more than just the invited honors kids who have letters being signed today. Also, the Instagram marked today as the official start date for decisions season. However, decisions will probably be very slow as it seems it is notorious for spreading decisions. But, some may still come out tonight.
I got that email and when I clicked on it there was an option to watch videos showing how to review your financial aid offer. However, the portal they were using for the instructional videos looks fairly different from mine and when I follow the steps they give to view financial aid info, it doesn’t work. Has anyone else watched the videos and had any luck?
@shartin I tried watching the financial aid video and when I followed the steps, nothing had changed. It said something like 20-21 financial aid is unavailable or something like that. The tutorial was from 2018 as well.
But for what it’s worth, I thought the congratulations video was very well done!
Anyone notice they changed the Instagram post caption? I can’t tell what has changed but it does say about 20 mins ago they edited it.
I screenshotted the first post haha.
They added an ‘s’ at the end of Admissions.
I did, but it is roughly the same. Just giving a broader timeline and a hashtag
Thanks, I might call to inquire about how often they are releasing decisions in waves. Like is it weekly or more of a situation where people are admitted after the decision is reached on the portal.
Decisions ‘through April 1st’. That’s 5 WEEKS
