Anyone have any idea when honors college acceptances start coming out?
is used only for catholic kids?
My DD was invited to apply for the honors program when she was admitted this week. I’, curious. Were some people automatically admitted to the honors program without doing a separate honors application?
I am quite sure it is not an auto-admit. It seems to me that everyone who is qualified is invited and will typically receive admittance if applied. @HappyFeetMomma
I think that most kids invited to apply to honors get in. My son got accepted in the first wave and was invited to apply to honors program. He submitted application right away and was accepted to honors program earlier today.
No.
I am still CRFR (Complete- Ready for Review) and it seems like I should not bother checking until Monday since their decisions have only been made on what seems to be Mondays.
In 2018, I think my son’s portal was updated on a weekend 3/24ish
Yes frustrating it takes so long but lesson learned on whether to apply RD or EA. I will tell my sister to apply only for EA or ED if she really knows where she wants to go. I applied EA for my safety schools, RD for USD and LMU and ED for SCU. Waitlisted at SCU, denied at LMU and only waiting to hear from USD. Fingers crossed for all still waiting.
@Jwiguam Good luck to you! I applied everywhere early action that allowed it. I think it was worth grinding it out in the fall to hear back early but even though I had all my apps done before the new year I find this as my last one. I was deferred then waitlisted at LMU which was quite surprising to myself given I had a fantastic semester academically. However, USD is my second choice as of now and I am curious what financial offer they will make me if I am accepted which may allow it to become my top choice and end up being where I attend.
On the website is a letter that includes the following:
Attention Fall 2020 First-Year Applicants:

First, we hope you and your families are well and at home as we all try and sort through these unprecedented events.
The University of San Diego is currently closed to all visitors, and our faculty and staff are working remotely. The operations of the University continue, however, and the admissions staff is continuing to read and make decisions on first-year applications for fall 2020. If you have not yet heard a decision, please know you will within the next week to ten days.
Similarly, the financial aid office is hard at work (from home) preparing financial aid offers. If you completed the FAFSA and had it sent to USD, you should receive your financial aid offer within two weeks of your decision. You will receive an email asking you to check your MySanDiego portal where you will find your offer.
Soon, we will be sending students admitted to the Class of 2024 more information about joining us for a series of virtual admitted-student events. These events will provide you and your family the chance to interact with faculty and current students, review your financial aid offer, and have many of your questions answered. Continue to check your email and MySanDiego portal for details.
At this time, we have not made a final decision about extending the May 1 candidate reply date. Please know that regardless of whether or not we make that decision, we will be very flexible with our deadlines and will refund confirmation deposits well after May 1. We also know you may not be able to provide us a final transcript, the results of your AP exams, or a number of other required documents in the usual time frame. Please don’t worry; we will work with you and your college counselors once we all know a bit more about what the next few months will bring.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, the best way to reach us is through an email to admissions@sandiego.edu. Since we are not on campus, we would discourage you from calling. Emails allow us to coordinate our response in a more timely fashion.
During this crisis, the university is proactively working with campus partners, as well as local and state resources, to monitor the situation and to protect the health and wellbeing of the USD community. As we continue to work through this together, we look forward to welcoming you to the Torero family this fall.
There is another banner that states the following:
The University of San Diego is currently closed to all visitors, with faculty and staff working remotely. The admissions staff will continue to evaluate first-year applications for the fall 2020 term. If you are a student who has applied or been admitted for fall 2020, please click here for additional information. If you have not yet heard a decision on your fall 2020 application, you will receive a decision by April 1, 2020.
My portal changed to committee review yesterday evening. Has anyone else had any changes?
Unfortunately, still in the original “Complete - Ready for review” status for my D. Best of luck, studentclass2020!
Same boat as @MA2024
i received a decision this afternoon in my email seems unlike the other decisions but i dont know
Denials were sent via email and acceptances were updated on the portal followed by an email soon after. What do you mean by unlike other decisions @smiley4145 ?
Wait, so have more decisions been released? @RidleyBCHS, did you hear from them yet?
It seems most acceptances this year if not all have been released on Mondays but denials have been sent out throughout the weeks. I am still on C-RFR. @purpler
Got it. Thank you.
D just denied for business via email. Moving on…
