I thought we might as well have our own thread! Chances, questions, etc. could all go in here (: I'll just put out there, USD is my number one choice and I hope to attend on an NROTC scholarship in the biochemistry major! Anyone else who can't wait until admissions decisions come out?

Does anyone have any idea of when they’ll start sending admissions decisions? This is the first year they’ve used 12/15 as their official deadline (I think that’s what they told us at the info session).

when where they due last year?

The website currently says decision will be made “by April 1st.” Yikes, hope it doesn’t take that long!

i think the deadline last year was sometime in January. we were told the admission info would go out on a “rolling” basis.

Ok, the website changed today to read this now for Fall 2013 applicants:

Applicants will be notified of a decision beginning February 25, 2013

That’s much better than the April 1st!

Also, they extended the deadline until January 2nd (:

The extended deadline is interesting. Wonder if they didn’t get the numbers of applicants they wanted? Or if they want to catch potential applicants who didn’t win the ED/EA lotteries elsewhere?

I recently spoke with a coach at USD who told me they had over 16000 applicants so I’m not really sure why they want to have more. I guess 16000 must be a low number from them or something?

I found this on the USD website: “The numbers have risen steadily for several years. In 2012, we received over 16,500 freshman and over 1,800 transfer applications.” I don’t know why they would extend the deadline if they received about the same number of applicants as last year. Oh well. Do any of you other applicants mind posting your stats? (:

My stats are:
3.84 GPA with AP & honors classes
1800 SAT and I hardly have any volunteer hours, but I worked during the summer as a lifeguard.
My letter of rec should be good and I know my essay is extremely strong and unique.

I’m probably right on the border of getting in, so it will be interesting to see what happens!

I think that the notification date is very late for how early the EA deadline was compared to other schools.
I live in Houston TX
2020 SAT
3.75 unweighted GPA
Lots of AP classes, volunteering, swim and water polo team, etc.
good luck to everyone!

Does anyone know if they will be sending their decision out via mail or email?

I think it says on the portal that they send them in the mail.

i have a 3.44 GPA and a 27 ACT, but i have a ton of leadership and over 60 volunteer hours, plus horseback riding for four years and i interned at the four seasons hotel in san diego and i’m a legacy, do you think that makes up for my GPA a little?? USD is my top choice! every year since freshman year i’ve had at least a 3.5, it was just that first year that kind of messed me up…

Does anyone know when they will be mailing the regular decision acceptance letters?

The website says “beginning February 25th.” Everyone is RD this year, so I’m guessing they will roll out from 2/25 all the way through March. On this forum last year it seemed like RD students rec’d their decisions online beginning 3/8 or so up until about 3/20.

It seems like many school notify the easy admits first, ie, those applicants with the highest stats. Because USD didn’t offer EA this year, I’m sure they are trying to get at least some of the decisions out earlier than last year, hence the “beginning Feb 25” start date.

thank you! @jane345

They have updated the portals with admission decisions but no letters until next week!:)

Thank you for posting that they updated the portal! I just checked and my Dd was accepted! Of course, she is sleeping right now! I’m so happy I’m crying for her. This was one of her top choices. I can’t wait to tell her tomorrow. She is going to be on cloud nine! We visited this school twice and fell in love with it!
