@ Andi, Congrats! I hope my DD gets good news today also.

Congrats to both of you! Did you find out in the Application Summary page where it formerly said “Application Status: Complete-Ready for Review” ???

When I logged in there was a tab that said admitted and when I clicked on that it said congratulations! I had to leave early for work this morning and woke her up to tell her. She was so happy! She has a 4.4 GPA this semester ( 4.02 before last semester)and a bunch of ecs. But, a average SAT and ACT score. I’m so glad that they truly use a holistic approach!

I got accepted! It’s weird, you log into the portal and, next to the announcements and applicant tab, there’s an admitted tab that just says “Congratulations! Now that you’re accepted. . .” I’m still in shock! 3.4 unweighted/4.2 weighted, 1890 sat score, average essay, recommendations, etc.

No new tabs here yet. :(

are the financial aid packages out yet i cant locate it on the website

Under my admission status it says “committee review” does anyone know is this is a good or bad sign?

I know a lot of people can tell they got accepted through the MySanDiego portal…if I don’t have the “accepted” tab yet, do you think I’m not accepted?

I don’t think they have announced the financial part of it. My dd got her official acceptance letter in the mail and it didn’t mention anything about scholarships. I think I read that comes out in March. I don’t know why they don’t include it in the packet.

They tell you your scholarships in your acceptance letter. At least for the three main merit scholarships. I received the Alcala, $25,000 a year, and I had a 33 ACT, 4.3 GPA, and lots of volunteering.

my daughters scholarship of $25,000 was in her acceptance packet today.

My D’s portal shows admitted and also that she has been invited to apply for the Honor’s program. Under application status though it says it is still in committee review and there is no mention of scholarships under the financial aid section. Those of you who have received your acceptance packages with scholarships in the mail, does your portal show that you received a scholarship?

I know people are hearing of acceptances, but has anyone heard of denies yet?

Does anyone know if all acceptances were posted at one time last week, or are they trickling in?

I don’t know whether to keep logging on, since my status hasn’t changed. Mine doesn’t even say it’s in committee review.

I think they are loading the acceptances in waves and are not nearly done. ( Or in trickles, maybe? ) It look like the kids with the highest stats and merit scholarships heard first. Just my sense of it. I’ve seen lots of other schools do it this way over the years.

I am surprised how many parents are checking portals rather than letting their kids find out on their own. It is a great moment they should not be denied. It’s like opening their mail. Would you like someone hiring you for the greatest job ever only to tell your spouse first rather than you? I think it is their accomplishment, let them have it. And if they aren’t worried about it and not checking every 15 minutes, so be it. There is no greater moment than them telling mom or dad they got in, not the other way around.

My kid does check portals, and then tells me about it. Not every kid makes the same decision about these things, tho.

Cadreamin, I guess to each their own. My dd had no problem with me checking the portal and letting her know. If she told me that she didn’t want me to check I would respect that. My dd is happy I’m helping her with this process. She has a crazy, busy schedule and can use a little help. Nothing wrong with that! She doesn’t feel robbed of her special moments. She opens her own mail. Within the same week she was accepted to USD and Chapman so she is feeling pretty good right now, thank you.

You are right andi0527 that the financial aid comes a little later, even some merit scholarships as well. Congrats on both acceptances!

Thanks dfin2013! That’s what I thought! Looking forward to seeing what she gets offered by USD. Chapman gave her a 15,000 scholarship.
