just wanted to start a new thread for transfer students. please comment with stats etc. best of luck everyone!
Hi! I applied as a transfer, sent my application in February.
Here are some stats:
College GPA: 3.9
High school GPA: 3.0
SATs: 1800
I applied as a freshman but got denied, I’m hoping for the best this year!
Daughter checked portal and was accepted on April 5 (no notification email yet received). She is transferring after her freshman year at Boston University. At least 3.5 GPA at BU, biochemistry/molecular bio major. High school unweighted about 4.2. ACT 30. Good EC’s. Good community service. She was accepted for 2016 as a freshman, but decided on BU (she thought she should leave California for a bit). Her dad was an alumni as a graduate student from back in 1989.
@lynjobes Where did you check in the portal? Did you click under the admissions tab for your daughter’s account? Because theres a tab under Admissions that says “admitted” for me and theres a congratulations box in the left hand corner and I’m wondering if this was official or not! :0 Haven’t got an email either
I was admitted on April 3rd and my packet came on April 6. If you have the admitted tab, then you are in! Congrats!
I just got admitted too! Are you guys attending?
Congratulations to everyone that got in! I was star struck when I saw the admitted tab O:-) To answer the question to this thread, here were my stats:
Female, East-Indian, middle class, transferring from a California community college.
Major: Anthropology
College GPA: 3.5
Extra-curriculars:
-Women’s intercollegiate Track & Field athlete
-Volunteering in Anthropology department for my current school.
- Volunteer for Sacramento Sports commission
Recommendations: got 2 from my favorite English and anthropology professors!
Essay: Feel pretty good about my essay. I was just myself and expressed myself as much as possible.
I was a horrible student in high school. Had less than a 3.0.
I will be attending in the fall as a business admin. major! I applied with a 3.94 and will have 34 credits by the end of this semester, so I will be a sophomore next year! I was so, so happy when I found out that I got in because I did not expect to hear back so soon. Congrats to everyone!!
@shagunbali
Yes, that’s official when you see admitted tab. My daughter’s physical package came in Saturday’s mail, April 8. We are in the SF Bay Area.
Is anyone out of state?
How long did it take after all of your requirements to be processed for you to see that you were admitted?
Has anyone else heard anything recently? At this point if I’m rejected I’d rather know about it now so I can commit to Chapman.
Yeah has anyone heard anything, its been a while. how long did it take after you sent all your stuff in?
So, here’s what happened to me. I contacted USD about a month, maybe longer, after I submitted all of my materials and requested a quick decision as my alternate school had a non-refundable deposit of $700 due by May 1st. They told me to contact a man by the name of Andrew Alsoraimi-Espiritu and tell him my request. After I sent the email, I saw a day later on the portal that my final document was processed. About a week went by and I still hadn’t heard back and was getting anxious as May 1st was getting very close, so I called the office of undergraduate admissions and spoke to a lady on the phone who then transferred me to Andrew. He told me that I was accepted a few days ago, but I told him my portal was never updated. Bad on their part. This may be the case for you guys! I’d definitely contact him and his email is: aespiritu@sandiego.edu @ellesurrey @gypsyking
Thanks, @egm1712! Just emailed him. Fingers crossed!
cool thank you
Hi guys! I sent my application materials a week or two before the deadline of the application. And I got my acceptance notification on the portal in the first week of April. I then got my package in the mail a week after.
This thread makes me nervous. If I haven’t heard back by now is it reasonable to assume I didn’t get accepted?
@mbrackmann I emailed the admissions office and they said they want my spring final grades – wish I would’ve been notified, you know? Try to shoot them an email. Your performance on your finals might make or break you, such as in my case.
Both on the website and MySanDiegoPortal it says you have to submit a Mid-Term Transfer Report after you have received your final grades. Anyhow, I wish you the best of luck! @ellesurrey
