USD transfer question

I'm currently a sophomore taking classes at a community college in boston looking into USD for the fall 2011 semester. My high school grades and standardized test scores are a reflection of my academic capabilities without accommodations for my learning disability that I didn't receive till my senior year of high school. I attended Purdue University for both semesters last year. The first semester I struggled and got a 2.7 and second semester i did pretty bad due to the death of a best friend and grandmother in the same week. I was just a rough year and I ended up with a 2.4 cumulative. I decided that Purdue wasn't for me and that I lost sight of my academic goals, so I decided to save parents money and take classes at home for sophomore year and transfer for junior year. This year I'm at a community college back in boston and got a 4.0 this semester, taking a rigorous course load, and most likely will end up with the same next semester. Would it be pointless for me to apply or do i have a chance given a good writing section of application?

what did you end up doing?
