I am currently an undergraduate freshman at the University of Oregon. I have about 80 credits and a 3.28 GPA. I plan on applying to transfer to USD for the Fall of 2016, the application is due May 1st.
I met with an admissions counselor at USD last week. She said my GPA was good, but I am lacking in core curriculum. Because of that, she said it was a gamble whether or not I would get in the fall unless I took some transferrable core curriculum classes at a community college this summer.
I have been looking tirelessly for credits at community colleges in Lake Tahoe (where I will be this summer) and online classes through San Diego community colleges. Unfortunately, there is no streamlined process or program for finding classes available for transfer. I can spend hours on a community college site trying to find open classes that I might be able to take and still not know whether or not the classes I am looking at would even transfer.
I have a sister who went to USD and said that they can be very particular about transfer credits. At this point, I have emailed the transfer advisor to ask if he has any suggestions for finding transfer classes, and I also plan on calling various cc’s to ask if they have any classes that they know have the capability of transferring.
If anyone has any tips or suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated as I am currently pulling my hair out trying to find classes that I know will transfer over.
