I am thinking of going to USD. Im just wondering about a dew things. Do most of the kids stay on campus on the weekends? Is it a party school? Are most of the kids from CA? I heard most of the kids are rich and some are stuckup. Is this true? Anything else I should know?

Parties tend to be at the beach and not so much on campus. There is so much to do around San Diego that students get out around town more then congrugate on campus weekends . Seems like juniors and seniors tend to get apts close to the beach vs living on campus.

Someone told me that there strict and parties get broken up all the time. Is there anyone around on weekends at USD?

Most students are around on weekends but parties weekend nights are off campus because the drinking policy on campus is extremely strict.

Don't know the percentage of non-Calif students, but my son's roommates first year were both from the Midwest. One of them got kicked off campus after three drinking violations. As a junior, his roommates were from Colorado and Calif. He lived on campus first two years, beach last two years. Lots of nice kids, some rich, some not.

My only real concern with USD is getting off campus.... Is it difficult to go to USD without a car? How is San Diego's public transportation?

bumb, anyone?!?!?

According to the info session we were at last week, the school's shuttle goes to 'Old Town San Diego' from there you can access the local trolley's and buses.

DD just spent an overnight at USD. All of the students she spoke with said it is very difficult to get off campus without a car. There is public transportation, but it is not frequent or reliable, and sometimes late at night not available at all. DD observed that the campus itself was not all that lively after 9 pm. She met some very nice students, but has decided this campus is not for her. She did say that some of the others in her accepted student overnight group were very pleased with their visit and liked what they experienced a lot.

My D has never had trouble getting a ride and getting off campus, getting picked up at the airport , to doctors etc. Most people do have cars and are very generous with rides and letting folks know when they are going off. Having said that my D still would like her own car eventually so she can get groceries whenever she'd like and have more flexibility.

I went to USD Law. Get yourself an inexpensive dependable car. San Diego is not Ithica; it is a bonanza of fantastic things to do. You can live at North or South Mission Beach and drive to school every day, and go to SDSU football and basketball when USD is playing away. The tailgate parties are the best parties around, even if you are not a particularly fanatical sports fan.
