Use AP Credit for Bio/Chem/Calc for pre-med (Biology) major?

Looking for some advice on registering next year on a pre-med (Biology) track with 4/5’s on AP Bio, Chem, and Calc BC tests and whether my daughter should go ahead and plan on taking the Intro/General Chem and Bio courses and “forego” the AP credits? Have read several older threads on the pre-med forum and there seems to be a consensus to retake Chem and Bio, but maybe not Calc. Does anyone know what the UNC “default” position is on this question (I assume it’s fairly common)? I’m leaning towards advising her to take the general chem/bio classes to establish a solid foundation in these sciences, but have also heard an argument that these big, intro classes may be considered tough/weedout classes with a tough grading curve.

Will also have several other AP credits to use towards degree (Psych, Env Sci, Stats, English), so will have some credits banked towards graduation.

I would contact the Med Schools she is considering and see how they feel about AP Credit. Anyone at UNC advising is going to tell you to retake the classes because that means more $$$ for them…so their advice may not to be too candid on this subject.

It’s a mixed bag as to what Med Schools accept as far as AP credit, Calc isn’t typically a direct prereq for Medical School so it seems that’s the one to take credit on.
