Hi everybody. I will be attending the BS/MD program at the University of Miami starting this Friday! I can't wait to start! Anyway, I was advised to "cash in" on all of my ap credits from classes that I took in HS and then skip to higher levels. I am not sure what the advantage is though to placing out of the lower levels!

The requirements to stay in the program are a 3.7 and I believe a 28 MCAT. For example, I am skipping all of the lower level bio classes and going straight to Genetics! I only had enough credit to place out of Chem I but not Chem II, so I am enrolled in Chem II. Does this make sense? I am worried now that I will not remember any of Chem I because I took the AP class two years ago in high school.

Does anybody know if Chem II relies heavily on knowledge from ChemI? Will I have trouble in Chem II if I just have familiarity with Chem I and II without a solid knowledge of it?

Anyway, the main reason I am posting is to start a thread regarding the use of AP credits. Does it pay or are we better off retaking the lower level classes that we already have covered in hs and use these easier grades for a padding in case of emergency later on. It would be nice to have some near perfect grades to average in to my gpa.

I was "strongly advised" to "take my credits and run", should I go with this advice or ask to retake Chem I even though I do qualify for credit?

Thanks so much for your help, please anybody feel free to reply. I am sure that this issue is a concern of many and hopefully your responses will be helpful for many others in similar situations. I can't wait to hear from you all!
